I feel like I should put a disclaimer out there before I start this article: CampusBooks.com doesn't sell any books. Not one, zero, zip, zilch, zesty. But, much like Google doesn't truly own any of the facts it helps you to find, CampusBooks.com can still be an very beneficial tool for helping you correlate book prices from all over the internet.

CampusBooks aims to be a one-stop-shop for book-hungry students, acting as a search engine that pulls in data about books being sold from all corners of the universe and plunks it all down in front of you. To make a real-world comparison, imagine going to a food court while you're stuck in a Memphis airport while a blizzard. (On additional thought, having a blizzard delay in Memphis is particularly unlikely, but let's just stick with it for the sake of this metaphor and because I have a strong aversion to backspacing.) Let's suppose you're finding for a coke. Normally, to find the cheapest coke price you'd have to walk around to each small restaurant, squinting intensely at each menu (you forgot your contacts) as you attempted to keep all the differing prices straight in your head. This time, however, a kindly finding man who introduces himself as CampusBooks.com offers you a list of all the coke prices in the food court, favorably arranged by price. Not too shabby, as far as Memphis airports go. Because I've gotten in way over my head with this analogy I'm just going to jump right into the good and bad of CampusBooks.com:

In case you skipped through the lengthy metaphor above (I truly did), CampusBooks acts as a search engine that pulls book prices from all over the internet and then quaintly and quietly compares them for you. While trying to find the cheapest price for whatever college book you need can be tedious and difficult (not to mention battling the determined pull of Facebook's gravity), Campusbooks.com can turn a half-hour search into the click of a button.
Comparisons contain shipping, discounts and coupons. "Ah," you say, chuckling at my naivety. "Anyone can correlate book prices, but does that truly matter when shipping can vary by the Hamiltons?" To which I would stingingly reply, "Just because you know who's on the ten dollar bill doesn't mean you know everything - CampusBooks.com comparisons also take into catalogue shipping, discounts, and any coupons available." Showed him.
Higher prices because just associates are being compared, not personel sellers. As high of praise as I have for this clever website, it does fall a bit short of the mark in some areas. When comparing books, only books being offered at reduction prices by associates are compared, meaning the strong possibility of a cheaper book being sold by an personel person still exists and might even be considered "on the loose". However, these runaway deals ordinarily only happen with smaller books, so for textbooks and any literature that weighs more than an opossum you're probably all set. (A grown opossum, to clarify.)
